Support Us

This network was started by 2 Melbourne base volunteers – Flick Grey and Chris Maylea, and is currently being run by a small group of enthusiastic mad folk (plus some allies). We are looking for other folks who are interested in co-creating a sustainable network. If this network feels of value to you, there are many ways you might consider supporting its sustainability. Currently, we are looking for:

  • people to answer emails (e.g. enquiries, requests to be placed on the email list, etc). Are you organised and friendly with a little bit of spare time? This may just be the job for you!
  • people to collect money at the door (which involves arriving 15 minutes early each month and being good at asking).
  • people to facilitate topics (is there a Mad topic you are drawn to and 2 associated, relatively accessible readings that you think would make for juicy dialogue? Want to try your hand at facilitating, with support as needed?)
  • people to help find funding – we’d like this network to grow and be sustainable, so we are on the look out for some (modest) funding. This might include knowledge of quick and easy ways to accept online donations/patronage. Or it might involve chatting with your rich mad cousin who is looking to spend money they found buried under an old apple tree. Or (more likely) grant writing skills … offers of support welcome!

If you would like to offer your support, please email us – madstudiesmelb@gmail.com.

The Mad Studies Network facilitates a monthly reading group. We recognise that theory and collective dialogue can themselves be healing. Beyond this, this group is not intended as any kind of “support group”.
